Bosnia
My Dental Mission to Bosnia was in 1997. I joined a Catholic group out of Florida and met up with them in the Frankfurt Airport to travel on to Bosnia. From Split, we took a chartered bus to Medjugorje where at one border we were stopped by unscrupulous guards. They wanted all our diabetic supplies, children’s clothing and medicines that we had in boxes for our Mission. After an hour we were allowed to pass. Our leader, Sandra, refused to let our supplies go!
In 1995 one of the villager families allowed Dr.Cahill to begin a dental clinic in their basement for the Bosnian war refugees. From there Dr. Sherman helped fund equipment and attract volunteers. The group of dental volunteers would arrive each month through Pilgrims Peace Center.
When word would get out each month that the Americans were coming, the line to get dental treatment would start early each morning. The days were long and the work was demanding.

Panama
The University of California, San Diego has a Pre-Dental Society. From time to time they are asked by the United States Navy to supply dental volunteers to help on Missions in the Caribbean or Pacific on their ships the Comfort or Mercy. We pay our way to get there and back home and the Navy provides room and board on the ship.
On this 10 day segment of the Mission in Panama where I volunteered, the Navy and Medical Volunteers helped over 12,000 persons! The entire Mission was for 5 months and USA civilian and military helped over 130,000 persons! The days were long, hot and very fulfilling. The persons we helped told us how grateful they were.
The purpose of the Navy Missions is to strengthen partnerships created in previous years, to improve co-operation on many levels with partner nations and to prepare to respond together in disaster relief.

Pahrump
Right now, there are tens of thousands of people across the country that are in pain and suffering because they cannot afford to visit a healthcare provider.
Remote Area Medical (RAM) brings free, quality, healthcare to these people, but they cannot do it alone! Medical and civilian volunteers give their time and expertise free to provide dental, vision, and medical care to those who need it the most.
Throughout the year, volunteers help in Virginia, Florida, Tennessee, West Virginia, California and Nevada.
In October of 2022, the Pahrump, Nevada site saw over 450 persons giving over $222,000 in free medical help by volunteers from the Las Vegas area.
